The Robbin

The European Robin is a yearly reminder that Christmas is on the way. Most likely this association with Christmas stems from Victorian Britain, when the postmen wore red jackets and were nicknamed “Robins”. A robin featured on a Christmas card is said to represent the postman delivering the card. The Maltese name, Pitiross, comes from the Italian name for the species, which means red breast.
The Year 6 students worked out a Maltese Comprehension about the red robin and then carried out an activity.
