Representing Malta in Chess School World Championships
De La Salle College representing Malta in Chess School World Championships
The boards are set and the games are underway in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia, where our De La Salle College chess team is proudly representing Malta at the European Continental Stage of the FIDE ISCF World Schools Team Championship 2026.
Our five players, Matthew Callus, Benjamin Calleja Falzon, Luke Micallef Trigona, Julian Farrugia and Steve Dimech, are competing on the international stage after De La Salle’s unbeaten victory in the Malta School Games Interschools 2026.
A special mention also goes to Gabriel Gauci and Jack Cutajar Forte, who were important members of the De La Salle team during the Malta School Games and played their part in securing this fantastic opportunity, although they were unable to travel to Armenia due to age limitations of the tournament rules.
We are proud of all seven players who contributed to De La Salle’s success and to this exciting chapter in our school’s chess journey.
Good luck, Matthew, Benjamin, Luke, Julian and Steve!
We are all behind you: make every move count!
Laughter, voices and energy filled all our schools today as our students returned for the start of another exciting year.
From our Year 1 and Year 2 students continuing our journey towards co-education, to students across our Junior and Senior Schools and Sixth Form, it was wonderful to see our school communities come alive once again.
We look forward to a year filled with learning, discovery, friendship and joy: growing positively together as one Lasallian community.
Welcome back to all our students! Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!
